The turtle [Broasca țestoasă]
You cannot see its head or legs too well
It's like a stone... But if you let it be,
Puts out its snout from under the big shell
And slowly starts to walk towards the sea...
How many clothes, some short and others long,
Opaque or gauzy, hideous or fair,
Did Nature have to put on with much care
In its unending journey, all along!
For groping to discover the best frame
From an amoeba to a bug, I claim,
Got lost in speculation and debate.
And what a winding road took to get here,
Until has been so ready to create
This gentle form and image of my dear!

If only I would be that guy
If only I would be that guy,
That walk's you home on Friday night,
But here I am single and shy,
Not being ready for the fight.
I sit behind my till and pray
That you will come to buy your bread,
But there's another that says hey!,
Not you, just other girls instead.
You crossed my path just now and yet,
Feels like I loved you for much longer,
My feet are still, my mind is set,
This feeling's only getting stronger.
But here you are walking outside,
With him, I guess this is goodbye!,
And I could see you as my bride,
If only I would be that guy...

Fair like a hero in the hall of fame,
He shows himself in postures well designed:
Half-face... trois-quarts... front view and from behind.
And sweetly smiles as if he were a dame.
His name is known by all, even by guards,
He has become a personality.
His everyday well-known celebrity
Inflates because he's kept in high regards.
And writes... and writes... cares nothing about spell,
Because he deems that things are going well
And on Parnassus he will climb one day.
But it's in vain, because right at the door
Politely they will cut his nose away,
To stop it to develop more and more!

Song of the Source [Cântecul obârșiei]
At its source, humble or proud,
No stream ever can return
Other than like cloud.
At its source, straight or inclined,
No road ever can return
Other than in mind.
Road and stream or cloud and mind,
Maybe someday I'll return
And what will I find?
Will I be a cloud, a mind?

Vorbește rar, privind de sus,
Se umflă-n pene de nespus,
Se dă rotund, se dă grozav,
Dar bietul e un om bolnav;
Nu e la trup, ci vă spun fair,
Că e bolnav... la caracter.
